The StoryBots Starring You Books app for the iPad keeps students engaged with reading by making them the star of a beautifully illustrated and animated storybook that features their face and name. Simply add a photo and – VOILA! Your student (or their teacher) is the star of the show!

The reader controls the pace of the story with realistic page turning, controlled by the teacher's touch. The animation and sound effects enhance the story, while leaving the narration to the reader. This allows for natural pauses for the teacher to ask questions and raise discussion points. Teachers can read these stories to their students in small groups or with the whole class. Children also can read these stories independently.

The Starring You Books app is available on the iPad (and coming soon on the web) and comes with 30 personalized books, with a new book added every month. These books are age-appropriate and designed for emergent readers. Each story is approximately 23 pages. Books can be read without an internet connection, once they have been downloaded to the device (iPad).

Starring You Books

Teaching Tool Breakdown

Monster Mayhem

Starring You Books make your students the star of the story, engaging them right from the start. There are 30 books in the growing library, covering a wide range of topics. New books are added every month, covering topics as diverse as pets, weather, counting, sports, monsters, camping, trucks, princesses, pizza and holidays.

The stories are animated with dynamic, fun music and sound effects to compliment the story as the teacher narrates and controls the pace of page turning. New books are added every month, so there are always fresh, new themes and tales to keep your students wanting more!

Using Starring You Books allows kids to build vocabulary, understand story development and make inferences from the text they're reading. Watching their own faces in the story supports engagement and seeing the faces of friends featured helps with de-centering and empathy. Children also get very excited to see their teacher, principal and even class pet featured in the stories.

Vocabulary is also improved when coupled with teacher interaction. Reading the words out-loud as the kids read along, and asking questions about what they're reading, supports comprehension.

Students' faces and names are uploaded by the teacher to a password-protected private account and only visible from that teacher's logged-in account (never shared publicly or online).

Books can be read without an internet connection, once they have been downloaded to the device (iPad).

With a variety of subjects, there's a theme to catch the eye of every student!
